To reproduce the sophisticated colour of Sakura blossom, the canvas is dyed with natural Akane (madder) roots, an ancient Japanese dyestuff used in many traditional crafts. To express the subtle, soothing shade of Sakura, the canvas is woven from unevenly-dyed threads, resulting in delicate heather, beautifully transforming the subtle hues as light and perspective shift.

Traditional Takashima canvas specially ordered by ESC from an artisanal textile maker in Shiga Prefecture. Woven with unbleached 100% organic cotton yarns, this canvas has excellent moisture absorbency and boasts a comfortable feel as well as superior durability and strength.

Although the fabric is UV-cut treated, prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or fluorescent light can cause the colour to fade. To retain the original colour for as long as possible, please store in a place away from light. Dry cleaning or hand-wash recommended. Do not use alkaline, bleach, or brighteners
